A LEGACY OF GIVING BACK
When Cindy Feldman set out to open one of the top salons in Maryland, she had much more than beauty and hair in mind. She started Progressions because she saw it as a unique opportunity to create change, cultivate a sense of community, and create a sanctuary of peace and wellness. Giving back has been our legacy since the very beginning, and that’s exactly why we chose to celebrate our anniversary every year by supporting a charity or organization close to our hearts—whether it’s suicide prevention, disease research, or supporting children, we are always seeking out ways to improve the world.

SOLDIERS OF PEACE, LOVE, AND KINDNESS
Years ago, Cindy saw an art installation created by Stewart Saxton called Peace Bomb, which was created over a 10-year period in an effort to bring to light the power of peace and love. This concept stuck with her and she started to think of her community outreach work with Progressions Salon Spa as part of her work as a soldier of peace, love, and kindness. Lately, there are a lot of challenges in the world, and it can take a toll on all of us in unique ways, but if we think of ourselves as these soldiers, we can take extra time to be kind and connect with others, and in this way we are all making the world a better place and spreading peace.

SUPPORTING CHILDREN’S NATIONAL HOSPITAL
This year for our 35th anniversary in business, we are supporting Children’s National hospital, right here in Bethesda. This feels like a very personal choice to us—when we first opened, Cele, one of our employees and friends had a granddaughter born with a tumor in her brain. Children’s National became an incredibly important place to her and in turn all of us as her granddaughter received the treatment she needed to survive. When we learned that most of the hospital’s funds are privately raised, we knew we wanted to get involved and support the life-saving work they did for Cele’s granddaughter and so many other children both in Bethesda and around the country.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
The best way to help is to buy a raffle ticket—you not only will be supporting Children’s National hospital, but you’ll also have the opportunity to win a basket of goodies valued at over $150. The baskets include fitness packages, beauty and wellness products, flooring services, restaurant gift cards, skin care services, luxury items, and more.
The raffle is available the entire month of September. Tickets are $10 each, or five for $40. You can buy them online or you can stop by our salon in North Bethesda.
