4 looks you’ll be seeing everywhere in 2018

The New Year is the perfect time to switch up a tired beauty routine—and go bold for an exciting new look. Below, we’ve rounded up the top styles we’re predicting will be trending in 2018.

TEXTURE AND BANGS

Bangs are back! These aren’t the sixth grade bangs that style nightmares are made of—these are chic, trendy and totally 2018. In the photo below, Kim Milligan (A stylist with us at Progressions for more than a decade!) shows just how trend-setting bangs can be while also giving a pixie cut tremendous amounts of texture—another style we’re predicting will be huge.

“In 2018 bangs aren’t boring,” says Progressions stylist B Arache. “I’m excited to do a lot of short cuts in 2018 and I’ll definitely be advising my clients who want bangs to let me give them some fun edge.”

FASHION COLOR

Pulp Riot has hit Progressions and we’re so excited to share the 16 vibrant and pastel semi-permanent colors with you. This new addition couldn’t come at a better time—our stylist Jen Palmeter predicts pastels and bold colors will continue to trend come spring and summer, and the Pulp Riot colors are swoon-worthy. Hesitant about making such a bold leap? Kim says subtle pops of color are a perfect compromise.

SMOOTH AND SLEEK

On the other end of the spectrum, we’re seeing everyday styles lean toward the simpler side. The looks from New York Fashion Week predicted a smooth and sleek spring. Think: low ponytails, hard parts (yes, down the middle), and smooth, straight hair.

BALAYAGE

Balayage has been hot for some time now and for good reason—it’s a low maintenance look that doesn’t sacrifice style. Good news is: it’s not going away anytime soon. If you’re eager to try color but hesitant of the commitment, balayage might be for you—it’s a perfect introduction.

WE’RE HERE FOR YOU

“If you’re looking to switch things up in 2018, it’s very important to talk to your stylists about what that maintenance looks like,” Kim says. “Think about how often you want to come in. Do you have time in the morning to style or are you more of a wash-and-go? These are the questions you and your stylist should be discussing during your consultation.”

No matter the look you go for this year, we’re happy to help you achieve it. Our stylists are always happy to discuss in detail, your hair maintenance, cost and goals before they begin. Consultations are always complimentary and oh-so important. Browse our Pinterest page for inspiration or book online now.
